Project #015 was finished just in time for the Berliner Fahrradschau. Like most of my projects this was commissioned by a customer. It’s a been a while in the making, but it’s safe to say that we are pleased with the final result.
The original frame was branded Kugler and little is known about this company or builder. I acquired this frame from a seller in Vienna, and while everything points to french origin, the name certainly implies a different country. It probably dates from the mid to late 60s and is built with ornate Nervex Professional lugs. It’s rare to see a frame with the whole set, including fork crown and bottom bracket shell.
After some healthy deliberation the customer decided to go with a Porteur style build. This made me very happy as Porteurs are certainly a favorite of mine. Because this frame is from the 60s, it has fender eyelets and ample clearance for 28mm tires, making it a perfect city bike.
The bike is decked out with parts from Velo Orange. The porteur rack, handlebars, brake levers, and polished rims can soon be ordered from my online shop.
